Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in Southampton. The successful candidate will work within the community setting, providing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for individuals with speech, language, and communication needs across various age groups
.
Role Purpose;
To manage a caseload of young people using evidence based/person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, maintaining associated records in a clinically autonomous manner. To support the young people to engage effectively in their admission by educating and training the multi-disciplinary team to understand their speech, language and communication needs, and how to address them. To supervise/appraise the work of less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, support workers and students, and monitor implementation/effectiveness of interventions delegated to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To guide the development of a generally communication-supportive environment within the Inpatient Units. To work independently and be accountable for their own professional actions. To participate in defined service projects, evidence based practice/research and clinical audit as required.
Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Relevant experience working in a community setting/Mental Health and Learning disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients of all ages and their families.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload.

Additional Information:
The role may involve travel within the community, and access to a vehicle is desirable. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
